The Secret Passage
Consistent writing practice allows children to explore ideas, topics and techniques without the fear of judgement. The more that children write the better their writing will become. The journal writing topics are designed for students to plan and write independently. Although they are ideal for homework tasks or as a literacy group activity, they can still be used for whole class instruction. The topics and themes used are familiar to children, this is so that they feel comfortable and limits 'writer's block'. Children are also assisted through the planning stage using different strategies and graphic organisers that they can transfer to other writing tasks.
