One morning, Tom and Sally went to the beach. It was a hot and sunny day.
When they arrived, they set up their towels on the sand and ran into the clear, blue water. The waves were small so Tom was able to use his boogie board. Dad helped him catch some waves. Sally played on the edge of the water with mum. She wore her floaties and jumped over waves.
After their swim, the children played in the sand. Tom built a sandcastle. It had large towers and a moat. Sally played in the sand with her bucket and spade.
Next they went for a walk along the shore. The water washed over the sand revealing colourful shells. Sally collected them in her bucket as Tom chased away the seagulls.
Eventually they came to the rock pools. Tom explored the different pools and found crabs and other sea creatures. Sally paddled her feet in the water of one of the pools.
At the end of the day, dad packed the car. Sally slept on the way home and Tom looked out the window as the beach disappeared into the distance.

The sun rose over the horizon as the gentle waves washed upon the shore. The red station wagon pulled into the carpark and the children raced down onto the sand looking for a place to set-up for the day. While dad put up the umbrella, Mum applied sunscreen to the children.
Once ready, Tom grabbed his boogie board and ran to the water’s edge. He made his way out among the other board riders waiting for a wave to catch. A gentle breeze blew across the beach as mum and Sally played in the shallows. She ran back and forth as the water chased her over the sand.
Tom came from the water and joined Sally on the sand. She was playing with her bucket and spade. Tom and Sally built a sand castle. Sally used shells to decorate the towers where the princess lived and Tom turned seaweed into a hideous sea monster that lived in the moat.
Soon Sally ran out of shells. Tom took her for a walk along the beach searching for shells. They found lots. Big shells. Small shells. Curvy shells. Sally found one that was her favourite. It was pink and twisty. Tom helped her wash it in the water so that she could give it to mum.
When they got back from their walk, dad suggested they go to the rocks. Sally was too tired so she stayed with mum but Tom helped dad carry the fishing rods to the rocks. Dad stood on the rocks, surrounded by crashing waves, patiently waiting for a nibble. Tom explored the rock pools. He found many interesting creatures but was most fascinated by the small crabs he found hiding among the rocks. He begged dad to help him catch one to take home but dad told him they belonged by the water.
The sun started to disappear in the distance and long shadows were forming on the beach. Tom stood looking out over the water. He felt Sally’s small hand grab hold of him.
“Let’s go home Tommy.”

Sally was outside playing in her backyard. She was running around chasing her little brother while her dad mowed the lawn. When she went inside, she was hot and tired.
Her mum looked at Sally as she slumped down on the lounge. She said to Sally that they should go to the beach. Sally was excited, she loved the beach. She rushed to her room to get ready while mum helped Tommy get ready. Sally changed her clothes and grabbed her towel, then she rushed outside to tell her dad.
Sally's family lived close to the beach so they soon arrived. When she stepped out of the car, Sally could feel the breeze coming from the water. Tommy ran off down to the sand and mum had to chase after him, he was too little to be by the water by himself. Dad set up the umbrella while Sally ran down to the water's edge and felt the water run over her toes.
Soon dad joined her by the water so they made their way out into the waves. The water was cold but it was refreshing. They spent the afternoon splashing in the water and catching waves while mum and Tommy played in the shallows.
After a while, Sally decided to play in the sand. She built a mermaid and then a dolphin. Dad sat with Tommy and showed him how to build a sand castle with his bucket and spade. Then Sally and her family went for a walk to the rock pools where they watched the waves crash over the rocks. Dad found a small hermit crab. Tommy wanted to keep it as a pet but mum said no.
Before they went home, they ate some hot chips. Then dad bought everyone an ice-cream. Sally ate hers too fast and got a brain freeze. Mum suggested that she sit in the beautiful afternoon sunlight to warm up. When they had finished their ice-creams, dad drove everyone home.

Nearby stands an enchanted beach. The water glimmers like diamonds; the sand shines like gold. Mermaids dance gracefully through the calm gentle water. There is a rainbow sea shell which controls the majestic ocean.
One day two girls stumbled across the enchanted beach. They came across a dreadful man; the girls nudged him…once…twice…a third time.
`WHAT DO YOU WANT?’
The girls explained that they had never been there and they are all alone. The man sighed; all he wanted was a little peace in his life.
He said, ‘If you peer around the cave of monsters you will find the magical shell.’
“M…m…monsters?” they quivered. They were brave and they wanted to get back home. They searched to find the shell. It was at the top of the mountain; they peered around and found the rainbow shell that controls the ocean.
They made a wish that they were back home – safe with their family. They were transformed. The man smiled. Maybe he was the one…
